YILO KROBO MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY (YKMA) HOLDS SECOND GENERAL MEETING

On October 30, 2025, pursuant to Sections 17(5) and 18(1) of the Local Governance Act, Hon. Edwin Yao Tengey, the Presiding Member (PM) of YKMA, convened and presided over the second ordinary meeting of the second session of the fourth Assembly. The key agenda items for the day included the presentation, discussion, and approval of the Executive Committee’s Report, Draft Annual Action Plan (APP), Draft Composite Budget, Draft Fee Fixing, and Draft Revenue Improvement Action Plan (RIAP) for 2026.
In his welcoming address, Hon. Tengey expressed heartfelt gratitude to all Assembly Members, management, and technocrats for honoring the invitation. He appealed to the management of YKMA to expedite action on the payment of ex-gratia to all Assembly Members whose tenure in office ended two years ago. He also requested that the management organize a capacity-building program for government appointees. Additionally, he introduced the new Coordinating Director, Mr. Abdul Hussein A. Rasheed.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Francis Addo Akumatey, updated the house on the implementation status of decisions taken at the previous General Assembly meeting, including:

  • Assembly’s farm tractors: The tractors have been assessed and recommended for auction by the Board of Survey.
  • Division of Assembly’s mango farm into blocks for private management: Management will review applications from interested parties.
  • Acquisition of a final disposal site for Yilo: A site has been secured at Klo-Agogo.
  • Boti Waterfalls: The court recommended that a valuer assess projects erected at the site, and a new agreement will be entered into with the caretaker.
  • Availability of a fixed asset register: A committee has been formed to compile assets of the Assembly in all communities.
  • Abandoned Klo-Agogo Police Post: An agreement has been reached with the contractor to resume work by the first week of November.
    The Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosua Awatey, graced the meeting and highlighted GETFUND projects for various schools, including University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), Yilo Krobo SHS, and others. Other officials, including representatives from GPRTU, Ghana Water Company Limited, Upper Manya Electricity Company of Ghana, and Zoomlion Ghana, also addressed the house on various issues affecting the municipality.
