Overview
The Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly is one of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in Ghana and forms part of the thirty-three (33) Municipalities and Districts in the Eastern Region. The Municipality covers an estimated land area of 511 square kilometres, with Somanya serving as its administrative capital.
The Municipality shares boundaries with New Juaben South Municipal and Akuapem North Municipal to the west, Lower Manya Krobo Municipal to the east, Fanteakwa North District to the north, and Shai Osudoku District to the south. According to the 2021 Population and Housing Census, the Municipality has a population of 122,705, made up of 59,656 males and 63,049 females.
The Assembly exists to improve the standard of living of the people through effective planning, prudent resource management, and efficient service delivery in line with Ghana’s decentralised system of governance. Working in partnership with government agencies, traditional authorities, civil society organisations, and the private sector, the Assembly strives to promote inclusive social and economic development across all communities within the Municipality.
