STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT ON THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE 24-HOUR MODEL ECONOMY MARKET AT AKUTUNYA STATION.
Following the successful completion of the Technical Site Possession Exercise in May 2026, the Assembly hosted an important consultative meeting on 17th June 2026.
The goal was to engage Project Affected Persons (PAPs) and key institutional stakeholders to discuss project milestones and plan the relocation and demolition of temporary structures to ensure a smooth construction process.To keep stakeholders involved at every stage, the session included affected traders, transport operators, community leaders, Assembly Members, traditional authorities, contractor representatives, and Assembly officials. They received updates on the project and its construction phases.
The Honourable Assembly Members, led by the Presiding Member (PM), Hon. Edwin Yao Tengey, traditional authorities, and residents of Yilo Krobo Municipality gathered in their numbers at Akutunya Market to warmly welcome the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly, Hon. Francis Addo Akumatey, and the astute technocrats of various departments and units led by the Deputy Director, Mr. John Mensin Mframa.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Francis Addo Akumatey, appealed to everyone to rally and unite behind the contractor to accelerate the pace of work for the benefit of the community.
The consulting firm, FeDems Limited, led by Mr. Anthony Astrim, explained that the market will include modern facilities such as cold storage units, sanitation systems, childcare centres, police and fire posts, and a mini clinic with a pharmacy.
