MCE VISITS SELECTED BECE CENTERS IN THE MUNICIPALITY
On Monday, 16th June 2025 , Hon. Francis Addo Akumatey (Municipal Chief Executive), accompanied by Mr. John Gasu (Director for Education, Youth and Sports), Hon. Kofi Nartey (Assembly Member for Oluahai), and officials from the Education Service, conducted an inspection tour of four (4) Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centres across the municipality.
The team visited: Otekporlu Presby School, Obawale Anglican Basic School, Klo-Agogo Anglican School and Opersika MA JHS
During the visits, the officials engaged with examination supervisors, addressing concerns regarding examination malpractices, particularly instances where teachers attempted to assist candidates.
Hon. Akumatey emphasized that exam questions are serialised, meaning the arrangement varies for each candidate. As such, any external “help” from teachers could disadvantage students rather than benefit them. He commended the supervisors for their diligence and professionalism in upholding examination integrity.
The team noted positive trends, including low cases of absenteeism, illness, and pregnant candidates sitting for the exams. However, they raised concerns over delayed delivery of examination questions at some centres, which disrupted the smooth conduct of the exams.
