MCE HANDS OVER 440 FURNITURE TO THE YILO KROBO MUNICIPAL EDUCATION DIRECTORATE

In commitment to providing a conducive environment for quality education, effective teaching and learning, and improving access to basic education in the Municipality in order to eradicate pupils sitting and writing on the floor, on June 9,2026, the Municipal Chief Executive of Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly, Hon. Francis Addo Akumatey, handed over Two hundred and twenty-two(222) mono desks, One hundred and twenty-four(124) dual desks, and Ninety-four(94) teachers’ tables and chairs to the Municipal Education Director, Mr. John k. Gasu, for onward distribution to beneficiary schools.

In addressing the gathering, Hon. Akumatey heaped praises on the President of the Republic, H. E John Dramani Mahama, for fulfilling his promises. He added that the Assembly will provide furniture annually to address the desks shortage in schools across the Municipality. He disclosed that the new classroom blocks being built would be equipped with modern furniture. Hon. Akumatey ended his remarks by appealing to the Municipal Education Director to ensure culture of maintenance is sustained.

The Municipal Education Director, Mr. John K. Gasu, after receiving the furniture, expressed his profound gratitude to the President of the Republic, and the MCE, Hon. Akumatey, for providing material resources for learners to ensure that education, which is pivotal to development, is held in high esteem. Mr. Gasu assured Hon. Akumatey that the beneficiary schools would put the furniture to good use and maintain them properly.He also appealed to the MCE for more furniture for kindergarten pupils.

The ceremony was graced by the Presiding Member of Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly, Hon. Edwin Yao Tengey. The Municipal Co-ordinating Director, Mr. Abdul-Hussein A. Rasheed, thanked officers from the Municipal Education Directorate, Staff of Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly, and the media for gracing the ceremony.
